Welcome to the Office of Governmental Affairs (OGA) at the Matcom Office of Public Safety. The Office of Governmental Affairs serves as the agency’s primary coordinating entity for legislative, regulatory, and intergovernmental matters that affect operational authority, programmatic execution, and resource allocation. OGA provides strategic oversight and policy coordination to ensure the agency remains compliant with applicable laws, regulations, and executive directives while advancing its public safety mission.
OGA works in close collaboration with executive leadership, oversight entities, and external governmental partners to support informed decision-making, maintain institutional accountability, and enhance the agency’s ability to respond effectively to evolving statutory and regulatory requirements.
Core Functions and Responsibilities
Legislative and Intergovernmental Affairs
The Office of Governmental Affairs serves as the official liaison between the Matcom Office of Public Safety, the Director’s Office, the Office of Risk Management, state and local agencies, and relevant federal, regional, and advocacy organizations. OGA facilitates intergovernmental coordination, monitors legislative activity, and supports engagement with policymakers to ensure agency interests and public safety priorities are effectively communicated and represented.
Policy Analysis, Development, and Compliance
Following legislative sessions, executive actions, regulatory updates, and governing board proceedings, OGA conducts comprehensive policy and procedural reviews. The office evaluates statutory and regulatory changes for operational impact, identifies requirements for policy revision or development, and supports implementation planning to ensure compliance and consistency across agency functions.
Constituent and Stakeholder Relations
OGA manages inquiries and correspondence from elected officials, governmental entities, partner organizations, and the public at the local, state, and federal levels. The office ensures inquiries are reviewed, coordinated, and addressed in a timely and professional manner, consistent with agency policy, transparency standards, and public accountability obligations.
